Obituary For Jason Thomas Meyer

Jason Thomas Meyer, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 43 years.

Jason was born on November 30, 1976 in Winnipeg, MB. He lived in Winnipeg until the age of 25. He moved to Spirit River, AB in 2001 and met his wife, Shauna, in 2007. Jason went to UofA for HSE. It took him over 20 years to get his dream job with Ryder Canada. It was sad to say goodbye to his career.

Jason always enjoyed going camping and hanging out with his friends. He felt most like himself when he went camping. He also enjoyed collecting, Star Wars, and travelling.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Shauna, daughter Julia, mother Fern Stewart, sister Katie Meyer, niece Madison Meyer-Parr, father Wayne Meyer, sister Samantha Plaetinck, niece Danika Plaetinck, nephew Ryan Plaetinck, parents in-law Denis and Rachelle Filippelli, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers.

Jason was predeceased by his grandparents Magdalene and Norman Popowich, and Edwin and Mary Meyer, and brother in-law D.J. Filippelli.

A private viewing will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB).

    Iâ??m SO sad to hear of the passing of your husband. My husband met him working in Fort St John. He had such good things to say about him. We are praying for your family. Much love to you and your sweet daughter. I know my husband said Jason spoke so lovingly of his (your) daughter as we were about to have our daughter. Iâ??m sad we never got to visit.     I am so sorry to hear of Jasonâ??s passing. My heart aches for you all. We all basically grew up at Saints and I hold those memories and moments close to my heart. Praying for you all at this time.

    My condolences on the passing of Jason. I never got a chance to physically met him but we interacted quite a bit over the phone especially in the last few months.
