Obituary For Jean Elaine Harley-Burdess

Jean Elaine Harley-Burdess of Peace River, AB passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 62 years.

Jean was born to Fred and Ellen Harley in Slave Lake, AB, November 30, 1953. Jean attended a year of school in High Prairie and then attended a one room schoolhouse in Sunset House. Afterwords, the family moved to Berwyn where she completed Grade 12 at Lloyd Garrison and then took a Secretarial course at Fairview College.

Jean worked at Kinley’s of Berwyn, Alberta Public Works, North Peace Housing Foundation and then back to the Hardware Store in Berwyn where she met Rob whom she married October 12, 1996.

After moving to Peace River, Jean worked at the Bargain Shop and Royal Bank. Along with this busy life, she drove cattle truck when needed and bartended for local events. During her work career, Jean had daughter Penny, the love of her life, on April 6, 1987.

Jean loved yellow, sunrises, sunsets, northern lights, her dogs, travelling, rock and roll, reading, making dumplings with family and collecting pens. She was community minded and filled scrapbooks with articles, posters, etc., of things happening in and around the community. She kept in contact with family members and was the family historian.

Jean is survived by her daughter Penny, husband Rob, father Fred, sister Susan (Ken Kuzemchuk), brothers Barry (Val), Curtis (Judy) and Jeff.

Jean was predeceased by her brother Jonathan, mother Ellen and a special family friend Marie Lund.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Berwyn Elks Community Hall.

Jean’s body was cremated and her ashes were placed by family in the Berwyn Cemetery.
