Obituary For Jean Elizabeth Stevenson

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Elizabeth Linden Stevenson on March 4, 2025 at the age of 87 years. Resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Debolt, AB, Jean passed peacefully at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital with her family by her side”.

Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend She was “nothing but the best, better than all the rest”. Each and every one of us were so blessed to have shared in some way in her beautiful life.

Jean was born on June 22, 1937, in Grande Prairie to Tony and Francis Linden. She grew up on the farm in Dimsdale AB, with two brothers William (Bill) and Carl. She graduated from the Grande Prairie Regional High School. After school she worked as an operator for Alberta Government Telephone (AGT). During this time, she met and fell in love with a handsome young bachelor from Debolt, Bob Stevenson. Bob and Jean were married on March 13, 1956. She then moved to the family farm in Debolt where they raised Black Angus Beef cattle. During that time, their three children were born. Dale in 1956, Janice in 1958 and Brenda in 1965. Jean’s purpose in life was to make sure her family was fed and looked after. In 1997 they sold the farm and moved into Grande Prairie.

One comment from a community member “is there anything she can’t do”, described her well. She was gifted with many artistic and creative talents. Her dad purchased oil paints for her at the age of 12, which began her lifelong passion for painting and drawing. She took art lessons by correspondence while carrying on a busy life of raising children, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, cake decorating, and craft projects. She organized and prepared everything for her three kids weddings. Continuously on the go, but more importantly loving and caring for her lifelong partner Bob for 69 years.

She was a very proud woman, not so much of her accomplishments, but of each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was her life, and she treasured all of them with a deep, sincere love and care. We will miss you mom until we meet again. Love you always and forever.

She will be sadly missed by husband Robert (Bob) Stevenson, Son: Dale (Gail Martineau) and Daughters Janice Widdifield and Brenda Berube.

Grandchildren: Michael (Annalisa) Widdifield, Avalyn, Carson, Sienna, Jeremy (Nicki) Fabrick, Jase, Brody, Reese, Tanya (Erik) Petterson, Munroe, Loki

Nicole (Ryan) Griffiths, Jacob, Pyper, Ember, Dillon (Leigha) Berube, Dakota Berube Danny (Amber) Martineau, Abby, Ethan, Rachelle (Jonathan) Martineau, Leo, Thomas

Along with her brother, Carl Linden as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Tony and Francis Linden, Brother: William Linden, Son-in-laws; Ed Widdifield, Darcy Fabrick and Grandson Ryan Widdifield

Funeral Procession will commence at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave) at 1:00 pm Monday, March 17, 2025, to Spring Creek Cemetery. Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 pm at Spring Creek Cemetery.
