Obituary For Jean Ophelia Kimble

It is with deep sadness that the family of Jean Kimble, wishes to announce her passing on Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 95 years.

Jean was born on January 1, 1926, in Grenfell, SK, to Ira and Nellie McLaughlin. The family moved to the Bezanson, AB, area in 1928 and she was raised on the family farm.

She married Herbert Kimble and together they farmed and raised four sons: Gordon, Monte, Rocky, and Robin on their family farm in the Crystal Creek area. Even after Herbert passed away, she remained there for another 25 years until moving into Wildrose Manor in Grande Prairie.

Family was very important to her. She was always going above and beyond to bake, sew, and just generally spoil first her kids, and then grandchildren. Jean loved get togethers where she could cook for and visit with her family.

She loved curling, picking berries, growing flowers, sewing, baking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, playing the piano, going for walks, and watching tennis on TV. She was a very accomplished artist and many of us have some of her art displayed in our homes. But her favorite pastime was golf and she was lucky enough to be able to golf into her nineties.

Jean is survived by her sons: Monte, Rocky, and Robin; grandchildren: Tanya, Neana, Nicole, Jennifer, and Ches; eleven great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; brother in-law Allan Redwood; sister in-law Louise Kimble; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Herbert; son Gordon; parents Ira and Nellie McLaughlin; brothers: Neil, Elmer, and Earl; sisters Joan Ames, and Helen Redwood; parents in-law; as well as many brothers and sisters in-law.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 11:00am, at Glen Leslie Cemetery.

Following the service, everyone is welcome to join the family for refreshments at Crystal Creek Hall.
