Obituary For Jeanette Calliou

Jeanette Ann Calliou, resident of Kelly Lake, BC, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 62 years.

Jeanette was born April 19, 1954, in Beaverlodge, AB. She grew up and raised her family in the community of Kelly Lake, BC. She had a passion for helping others and the ability to see the good in everyone. She was a devoted worker and volunteer at both the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre and Kelly Lake Community Centre. She was a founding member of the grassroots movement in Kelly Lake, BC for the Foothills First Nation. It was very dear to her heart, because of her love for her community and her family.

Jeanette was a nurturer and she was strong, determined, and possessed a passion for cultural traditions. She was an advocate and active participant for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women National Inquiry in Prince George and Edmonton.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Darcy Letendre; children: Mona Calliou (Derek Willis), Lois Duke (Dennis Warren), Sheldon Letendre and Robyn Letendre; grandchildren: Courtney Willis (Kyle Belyan), Levi Willis, Aiden Letendre, Isabella Warren, Sophia Warren and Tori Letendre; brothers Robin Davidsen and Faron Hambler, as well as numerous other family members, too many to mention that were dear to her heart.

She was predeceased by her mother Florence Calliou, brother Danny Davidsen, son Morgan Letendre, and grandchildren Reese and Gage Letendre.

Prayers will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, at 7:30pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

The Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).

Memorial donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada (3500 2 Bloor Street East, Toronto, ON, M4W 1A8).
