Obituary For Jennie Margarette Smith (nee Jobson)

Jennie Smith, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 77 years.

Jennie was born in Grande Prairie in 1946, and was raised in the Hermit Lake area. She met the love of her life, Les Smith and they married in 1965. Jennie had a great many interests and hobbies throughout her life, most important to her was her nursing career.

Jennie is survived by her daughter Karen Przybylski (Nick); sons: Larry (Leslie), Lynn (Sandi), and Ian (Keri); grandchildren: Eric (Crystal) and Tyler Przybylski, Katrina Rodacker (Spencer), Montgomery, Gracie, Brenna, Maguire, Alex Smith, and Emily Johnson; six great-grandchildren; George and Diane, Bob and Leanna, Lloyd and Diane, Floyd and Marion, Kathy and Marvin Schultz; sister in-law Fay Freisz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jennie was predeceased by her husband Leslie Smith, and parents Lloyd and Margarette Jobson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pen Li and his Pulmonary Department at the University of Alberta Hospital for the exceptional care they gave to Mom. Thank you to the nurses at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital who took such good care of Mom during her final week. Also a very special thank you to Erin and her team with Home Care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Luncheon to follow.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Salvation Army Community and Family Services (9615 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2T8), or to a charity of one’s choice.
