Obituary For Joan Doreen Jones
Joan Doreen Jones passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at the age of 82 years.
Joan was born in Grande Prairie on February 3, 1937 to Ted and Madeline Chambers. She was raised in the Beaverlodge area where she spent most of her life.
On March 31, 1956, Joan married the love of her life, Vern Jones. Together they raised three children while finding time to curl, visit with friends, and travel on many adventures.
Joan loved to socialize and spend time with friends and family at the swimming pool, golf course, curling rink, and at the Wapiti River. She loved the cabin at the Wapiti where everyone was welcome. Friends and family have many wonderful memories of river boat trips, quadding, skidooing, and late-night campfires which all ended with a few refreshments and tons and tons of laughs.
Joan’s family was her joy. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and she had very special bonds with all of her grandchildren. She loved to hear about everyone’s adventures and she liked nothing more than experiencing adventures with everyone, such as travelling up the river, going to New York City and Cuba, and by attending every dance and piano recital, Christmas concert, and hockey game.
Grandma Jones was young at heart and, if you ever experienced her youthful attitude, you experienced Joan. She lived a full and active life and there are many who will miss her sense of humour, her energy, and her zest for life.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Doug (Gena), Steve (Brenda), and Suzanne; grandchildren: Tysen (Darylanne), Amber (Jessi), Linsy (Dustin), Ashley (Angela), Levi (Kelli), Braden (Sheena), Taylor (Alex), Branden (Lace), Masen (Brandi), and Maddy (Matt); great-grandchildren: Decker, Kingston, Reeve, Lola, Jett, Vivie, Letti, Brodi, Mackenzie, Nixon, Ryker, and Boden; brother Dale (Dorothy) Chambers and their children Sandy (Murray), Gerry (Brenda), and Barbie (Darren); numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces; as well as many special friends.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Vern Jones.
As per Joan’s wishes, no service will be held. We ask everyone to have a “cheers” to her memory. Thank you to everyone for all the love and support.

Hotte Joanne and Arden
Our deepest condolences to the entire family of Joan. She truly was "one-of-kind". Her spunk, sense of humour and unique connnection to her family and friends was like no other. In the community, you only had to say "Joan", and people knew who you meant....a true sign of someone we all knew and loved. Joanne worked at Beaverlodge hospital when Vern was administrator and got to know the entire family starting back in the late '70's. Hugs to you all.

We had lots of fun visits with Joan (and Vern) at the cabin, along the river, skidooing and curling. Joan always went out of her way to make everyone welcome and her sense of humour, hugs and kisses on the cheek made us feel like part of the family. Our deepest condolences to all those close to her. We know you will smile often when you remember her wit and kindness.
