Obituary For John Aasen

John Kenneth Aasen, resident of Clairmont, AB, passed away, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the QEII Hospital at the age of 60 years.

John was born on August 10, 1960, in Melfort, SK, the third son of Ken and Erva Aasen. The family moved to Clairmont in 1972.

At 18, John started work driving truck, then worked in the oilfield, and eventually as a delivery truck driver in Grande Prairie, AB.

John was always only a phone call away and was always around to lend a hand. Whether it was physical labour, babysitting or even dressing up like Santa, he loved to help out.

He was kind-hearted, up beat and made friends instantly. He always had a hug and a smile and a teasing remark for everyone he came across.

John loved to play softball, go to rodeos and was a great pool player. He volunteered at many events and for different groups over the years. He loved kids and was always wrestling and playing with the little ones and was just a big kid himself.

John spent a lot of time with his niece Nicky and her family. He was the kids’ number one fan, never missing a concert or sporting event nor the opportunity for a big bear hug. He loved spending time at the farm with the animals.

He will be sadly missed by his mother Erva; brothers: Jim, Bob and Rodney; sisters Karla and Shelley (Loren); nieces: Nicky (Ryon), Cassie (Cody) and Katie (Jessie); nephew Richard; great-nieces Kenedy and Frankie; as well as great-nephews: Pacen, Tanis and Jordie.

He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Aasen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
