Obituary For John Charles Robertson

John Charles Robertson, resident of Hythe, AB, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, in Beaverlodge, AB, at the age of 77 years.

John was born on February 21, 1944, in Beaverlodge, to George and Rose Robertson. He was the third child of nine, where he was raised on a farm in Lymburn, AB. He married Dorothy on June 3, 1967, and they lived in Lymburn for 46 years, where they raised their three daughters on the land that he homesteaded.

He spent 40 years in oilfield construction, working for High County, Big Valley and Nodes Construction.

John loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed visiting with his neighbours and will be remembered for his kind and generous nature.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (nee Crichton); children: Wendy (Kent) Coish, Laurel Robertson and Lynda Caron; eight grandchildren: Carli (Ryan) Heath, Bailey (Jon) Levesque, Brittany Miller, Brody Miller, Shae Caron, Riley Coish, Josee Caron and Jon Coish; five great-grandchildren: Madelyne, Aubrey, Kashton, Nixon and Jack; sisters Shirley (David) Lowen and Brenda (Darcy) Funk; and brothers: Glen Robertson, Jack (Lena) Robertson and Kenny Robertson.

John was predeceased by his father George Robertson; mother Rosa Robertson (nee Gass); an infant brother; sisters Marie Wiebe and Eileen Dyck; brothers in-law Pete Dyck and Butch Wiebe; as well as one niece and one nephew.

A Celebration of John’s life will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to express their gratitude for John’s care from Dr. Clow, the staff of the Beaverlodge Hospital, Judy Sterkenburg, and the staff of the Beaverlodge Home Care.
