Obituary For John "Jack" Lawrence Emmett

John “Jack” L. Emmett, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 93 years.

Jack was born in Lynn, near Boston, MA. He grew up in Maccan, NS. Jack married Delphine Seaward on April 10, 1951. He had many jobs, the latest was seventeen years at ATCO Electric. Jack, Del and his family loved camping and fishing. He was always wondering “What’s down that road?”.

Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Del, daughter Delphine, and great-grandchildren Johnny and Isabelle.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).

Today is my Gradads funeral in Alberta I am not able to attend, but my thoughts and love are there today. My favourite memory with my Grandad: when I was small, maybe 5 or 6 my grandad had this old camper van that had a ladder on the back of it. Well, my dad and my grandad had to go to the store, I wanted to go but I was told I couldn't come. Well I didn't like that very much, so when they got into the van to leave I jumped on the back, clinging to the ladder and off they went, me literally hanging on for dear life. It wasn't until we were in the middle of traffic with someone honking their horns to alert my grandad and dad that I was back there that they realized I was there. In a panick of course they retrieved me. This story was told at all the family gatherings, it is a memory I will cherish. My grandad was a tough man, loved to wood work in his day, and he was an amazing role model. He was married to my Nani more then 60+ years, happily and in love. I'm sad I can't be there to say goodbye, I love you so much! Xox one day we will meet again! 🤍
