Obituary For John "Jack" Miller Alstad

John “Jack” Alstad, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Cutbank Lake, AB, and Wembley, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 90 years.

Jack was born on April 4, 1930, in a log shack, one mile north of Cutbank Lake. Jack was raised on the farm. He then farmed on the south side of Cutbank Lake and lived there until 2017. He married the love of his life, Gwen Walters, on July 11, 1952. They had a wonderful life together of 67 years. In 2017 he moved with his wife Gwen to Emerald Gardens in Grande Prairie.

Jack always had strong values. He was a people person, friendly, hardworking, and of high integrity.

He loved walking, going to auction sales, skating, curling, playing cards, golfing, and tinkering in the garage.

Jack will be sadly missed by his wife Gwen Alstad; children: Diane (Terry), Ken (Shelley), Wayne (Kim), and Candace (Mike); grandchildren: Jason, Dustin, Dallas, Ashley, Ricki, Kendel, Chillton, Dakota, Chance, Tierra, and Teegan; great-grandchildren: Jagger, Keaton, Theodora, Jacob, Hadley, and Lyla.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 11:00am at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army Food Bank (9615 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2T8).

    Iâ??m so very sorry to hear of Jackâ??s passing. He was a good man and a good friend to my family. My parents, Mona and Lorne Middleton, were great friends of Jack and Gwenâ??s for many years. My sincerest condolences to Gwen, Diane, Ken, Wayne and Candace.

    Gwen, Sorry to hear of Jackâ??s passing. Colin & I had run into Jack in emergency a time or two when Colin was in for treatments. Now both are at peace, no more suffering. I still remember when you and Yvonne were such good friends and your shared love of horses. Paulette
