Obituary For John (Jack) Savage
John (Jack) Savage, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the age of 88 years.
Dad was born on July 5, 1928 in Adelaide, Australia to John and Annie Savage and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. Dad brought his young family to Canada in 1965 and settled in Grande Prairie in 1968. He was a husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, educator, city councilor, QEII board member, and Legion President.
Dad loved a good joke, good conversation, social gatherings, and holidays in hot locations.
He will be missed by his family: John (KellyAnn and Terence), Martin and Maureen (Ryly and Brad), Margaret and Harold (Ben and Wyatt) Camilla and Keith (Connor and Amanda), Fiona and Roy
(Ryan, Megan and Neil), Ray, and Anne and Darren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.). A gathering will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion (9912 101 Ave.).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation (10409-98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E8) or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to thank the nursing teams of 3 North at QEII, Dr. Trollip and Dr. Martin, as well as Points West Hospice, who all provided compassionate and kind care.
