Obituary For John Malcolm Melville

John Melville, a long-time resident of Valleyview, AB passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 75 years.

John was born on February 14, 1949, in Olds, AB.

John was a devoted husband, friend, father, and papa. He made friends everywhere he went and was known for his infectious smile and quick wit. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, tinkering around the farm and spending time with friends and family. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and always had a project or 10 on the go. He rarely said no to any request, never complained and was the most consistent, loving human who ever existed.

John especially enjoyed his years of retirement; where he and his wife Karry spent half the year in Arizona making new friends and enjoying life to the absolute fullest and six months on their acreage outside of Valleyview. John often said that he was "living the dream" and spending "another day in paradise,” whether he was travelling or home on the farm.

John is survived and will be tremendously missed by his loving wife Karry; children Tamber (David) Hare, Jacqui Turner and grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Cade and Emmery.

John was predeceased by his son John Edward Melville and parents Scotty and Helen Melville.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Melville Family Farm.

John’s family would like to extend their appreciation to everyone who helped throughout this Cancer journey—the nurses, doctors, pharmacists and other professionals encountered along the way that were exceptional in their field. Special thanks to John's sister Gail and brother-in-law Mike Wilburn, who were always there, and continue to be there when needed. Your love and actions are appreciated more than words of gratitude could ever express.

In lieu of flowers or donations, hug your wife, kids, parents and friends. Tell them you love them and have ‘just one more’... for John.

Here was a man who encompassed everything. A man of many talents. Love, fun, worker, friend, you name it. Loved being with John, could be totally at ease. More than once, we had issues with the rv and he was there fixing it no matter what it was. Always remember his birthday party at Rivers Edge Valentine's dinner, what a fun time as well as our desert ventures, dinner parties and evening cocktail time. It goes without saying that Karry was a very close part of all he did. What a team! Love and hugs to his family, he will be missed but fun and endearing memories will remain. Love, George and Dar
