Obituary For John Nestor Richard

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Nestor Richard long time resident of Grimshaw passed on Saturday August 31, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

John was born on August 25, 1934, in Grimshaw Alberta to parents Nestor Theodule and Florence May Richard. He grew up on the family homestead west of Grimshaw. He worked on the farm until he was old enough to start driving and later drove for Grimshaw Trucking, Lawrence Transport and Macmillan Construction. After he retired he enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

John did not like to fly but managed to see most of Canada and some of the Northern United States doing what he knew best, driving across Canada with their truck and trailer.

In 1954 he married his wife, Margaret Johnson. On January 14, 2024, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

John was predeceased by his parents: Nestor and Florence Richard; sisters: Joan Wallace, Irene Wolff, Marie Novodvorski; brothers: Terry Baxter, Doug Richard, Geoff Baxter, Ronnie Richard; son-in-law Garth Thomson; and great-granddaughter Ella Johnson.

John leaves to mourn his loving wife Margaret, his children: Wayne, Lori, Kevin (Bonnie), Shelly (Almer) and Sherry (Jim), sister Nanette Konowalyk, Twelve grandchildren and Nine great grandchildren.
