Obituary For John Rudolph Seidl

Our dad moved with his parents to Tomslake, British Columbia at a young age and settled on the family farm. He spent his early years being educated in Tomslake with his secondary education in Dawson Creek.

John’s first marriage blessed him with daughters Sheila and Connie. In 1971 he met Colleen, his second wife, and his family grew again with the addition of Lisa, Michael, Marie and Dennise. He resided in Tomslake until his retirement.

Dad worked with Dawson Creek Warehousing in excess of 30 years. This ensured our home was always stocked with Coca Cola. As a devoted family man, he was strong in his convictions and worked hard. His calm demeanor and dry sense of humor balanced out Colleen’s temperament. He had a love of sunshine and a soft spot for Mexico, Las Vegas, and Arizona. In his youth he was passionate about sports, playing drums in local bands, listening to music (over 1000 albums) and muscle cars. He played a key role in establishing the Tomslake Fire Department. Dad struggled to cope with his COPD later in life. We will always remember him fondly, especially when enjoying his favorite sweets, pastries and coffee.

John was predeceased by his parents Kurt and Tina Seidl, brother Walter, sister Mary, wife Colleen, and son Michael.

He is survived by siblings: Susan, Alfie, Helen, Art and Kay. Children; Connie, Sheila, Lisa, Marie and Dennise. John was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He cherished time with his family and friends, even though they were spread throughout all parts of Western Canada, his love for them was always close.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Tomslake CCA Hall.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Tomslake and District Volunteer Fire Department – General Delivery, Tomslake, BC V0C 2L0
