With profound sadness, we share the passing of John Stuart Woods, resident of the County of Grande Prairie, AB who passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, at the age of 63 years.

John was born in Halifax, NS and lived in various places across Canada and in the US throughout his life before settling in the Grande Prairie area. John was a journeyman power lineman. He was well respected in his many years in the industry and was known by his simple rule, “If you’re not going to do it right, then don’t do it!”

John lived life by his own rules. He worked hard, lived hard and played hard. He was a much-loved father, brother and friend. He was kind, caring and had a huge heart. He left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him and especially those lucky enough to call him a friend. He was passionate about motorcycles, classic cars, jet boating, sledding and anything that gave him an adrenaline rush and a good laugh.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Janelle (Lump) Woods in Grande Prairie, AB; sisters: Maureen (Rick) Zuest, Ann (Greg) Johnson, and Laurel (Dave) Zuest, all of Abbotsford, BC; brother Dave (Lisa) Woods in Sooke, BC; and special friends Sherry Gillard and Brad Wells in Grande Prairie, AB.

The family would like to thank his earth angels and close friends: Sherry, Brad, Vicky, Cherie, Ivy, Barbe, Richard, Smith and Brent, for their love and support for John. It has meant the world to us! A special thank you is also extended to Dr. A. Barreth, the staff of the Prairie Lake Hospice and Sarah from Grande Prairie Home Care.

John was predeceased by his parents Alan and Carolyn Woods.

Due to the current situation, a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.
