We mournfully announce the passing of Emery Poitras on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. At the age of 96.

Emery was born in St. Paul, AB on November 10, 1927, to parents Francis Poitras and Josephine Cardinal. Emery moved with his parents and siblings to Paddle Prairie, AB, in 1944. He was the sixth child out of eleven. Emery worked on the farm, sawmill, and logging.

Emery will be sadly missed by his sister Rita Johnson her husband George Sukkau, and Rita’s children: Dennis (Kathy) Johnson, Wayne (Christine) Johnson, Dale (Candy) Johnson, and their children Daniel, Marcus, and Nolan; Joan’s son Wade (Steph) and their children; Murdoch’s children: Randy, Roland, Raymond, Debby, and Sharon; Alisar’s children: Allan and Shelly; Richard’s children: Hazel, Charlott, Peggy, and Richard; Lenard’s children: Doreen, Ricky, Wanda, Lorane, and Lesly; Larry’s children: 3 boys and 2 girls, Beatrice, and Charlene.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Richard, Murdoch, Robert, Larry, George, Alisar, Lenord, and sisters Joan and Betrice.

A Celebration of Life for Emery will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Paddle Prairie Hall. Interment to follow in the Paddle Prairie Cemetery.
