Obituary For Joyce Moon Werk
It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Marie Werk announces her passing on Friday, January 5, 2018, in Beaverlodge, at the age of 70 years.
Joyce was born in High Prairie, AB on April 24, 1947. She spent the majority of her life in the town of Beaverlodge, AB, where she met her husband Pete and raised two children on their farm.
Joyce loved nature and being outdoors in her garden. Some of her favorite pastimes were skiing, quadding and camping. But above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved dogs. Unfortunately later in life, a lung condition slowed down her outdoor pursuits and she received the gift of a double lung transplant that extended her years. Though her quality of life was greatly reduced, Joyce always found a way to attend the majority of her family functions and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband Pete of 53 years and their children: Steven (Catrin), and Brenda Dixon (Kelly). Joyce will also be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole (Aaron), Alex, Nicholas and Cameron.
A Memorial Service in memory of Joyce will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Joyce Werk to the University Hospital Foundation - Lung Transplant Program (8440-112 St NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2B7).
