Obituary For Katherine Mabel Sebastian
Soon after the passing of her husband of 68 years, Katherine “Kathy” Mabel Sebastian, of Lake Saskatoon, AB, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 86 years.
Kathy was born on August 12, 1935, in Rosenhof, SK, to Peter and Anna Remple. She was their second child. The family moved to a homestead just south of Grande Prairie when Kathy was 1 month old. The family then grew by adding 5 more children. They moved into Grande Prairie when Kathy was 5 years old.
Kathy met Mike in 1949, and married on November 13, 1952. In 1959, Mike and Kathy bought the original Sebastian farm and resided there until their passing.
Kathy was very outgoing and was exceptionally good at organizing, or “being the boss”. Whether it be the care of her yard, house, or social events, she’d have it in perfect order. Kathy kept very busy as the “ideal farmer’s wife”, working various jobs out of the home, and was a terrific mom to her 5 children.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her children: Steve (Pat), Marty (Glenda), and Shelley, eight grandchildren, as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband Michael, her parents, two sisters, two sons, and one son in-law.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Mizzau, the nursing staff on 3 North at the QEII Hospital and all the staff at the Beaverlodge Hospital, for their compassionate care.
A Graveside Service for both Kathy and Michael will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 2:00pm, at Lake Saskatoon Cemetery. The family encourages you to wear a mask.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Town of Beaverlodge - Beaverlodge Health Complex (P.O Box 30, Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 0C0).

An older sister who was always just there. The farm was my second home as a child. Great memories of wonderful family Christmas celebrations. A lady that always had time to invite you in for a coffee and a chat. Will leave a big hole in the family for sure. Memories are great healers.
