Obituary For Katie Ivezic Markovich

On Saturday, February 18, 2017 Katie Markovich, 83, passed away peacefully at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center after a courageous battle with emphysema and lung cancer.

Katie was born July 26, 1933 in Lika, Croatia. In 1965, she came to Canada where she resided in Rycroft. She was a mother, homemaker and volunteer. Katie had many hobbies such as gardening, petit point, needle point, crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking and baking. Not to mention spending time with family and friends. In 2015, Katie moved to the Golden Leisure Lodge in Ponoka, AB to be closer to her family.

Katie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cathy (Billy) Courtney, and grandsons Tristan and Treyton, all of Ponoka, AB; her sisters Ruza Weg and Ivanka Kraus and brother Tomislav Ivezic of Croatia along with relatives in Canada and her homeland.

Katie was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2000, father Mike in 1967, mother Maria in 1995, and brother Dragan in 1990.

Katie will be sadly missed by her family, friends and by all who knew her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 1:00pm at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Rycroft. Interment to follow at the Old Mission Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Community Hall in Rycroft, AB (Box 331, Rycroft. AB, T0H 3A0), Rimoka Housing Foundation c/o The Golden Leisure Lodge (5608 57 Ave., Ponoka AB, T4J 1P2), or a charity of your choice.
