Obituary For Katryna "Kat" Leigh Knells
It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow that we say goodbye to our Katryna, taken so suddenly and senselessly on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the age of 19 years. She is now in the hands of her grandparents, watching over us, being that brightest star in the midnight sky.
Katryna was born in Grande Prairie on June 9, 1999 at 8:39 in the morning to Ralph and Jackie Knells. She lived in Rycroft for all of her 19 years. She graduated High School on her 18th birthday and proceeded to take a year off school to work at the Co-Op in Rycroft where she was loved and appreciated by everyone. She recently applied to King’s University in Edmonton and was accepted the very next day of applying. There, she was to take her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Bachelor of Education. In five years, she would have had 2 degrees and would have been a teacher.
Katryna loved to paint, draw, bake and spend time with her family and friends. She loved music, no matter what genre, all she had to hear was the first few beats of a song and she could tell you who the artist was and what the song was. She loved going to concerts and recently was to take her dad to see Alabama. She loved to discuss her music to whoever would listen. Katryna loved to spend time and do things with her little brother Tyler, who will deeply miss his big sister. The passing of Katryna has left a huge hole in our hearts.
Katryna will be sadly and deeply missed by her parents Ralph and Jackie, brother Tyler, Grandfather Ernie, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends, too many to mention. She will be especially missed by her cousin Sarah and her special friend Jesse.
A Celebration of Life for Katryna will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11:00am, at the Rycroft Ag Building (5010 49 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to David Thompson Bible Camp (Box 2455, Fairview, AB, T0H 1L0).

I met Katryna at St Marie School where I was the custodian . She was a very nice polite young lady. Even when she didn't go to that school any more when she came to pick up Tyler she always made a point to find me to say Hi and catch up abit. I was truly shocked and deeply sadden to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to all of her family . Hugs Ms Michaels

Our thoughts and prayers and with all the family of a very beautiful young lady that will be remembered because of her shining smile and wonderful zest for life. When you met her anywhere or when you were shopping for groceries in the Co-Op, she was always pleasant, respectful and very willing to help in any way. She earned her "WINGS" long before she left us but they were well deserved. Kat.....you are the glow that we see in the sunset and the ever shining star we see in the Heaven's above. Rest in peace.

We have really appreciated, as I have mentioned before, when Katryna would phone, text or visit Charlotte and encourage Charlotte to go do something. They were always very different girls. Katryna, of course was much more confidant and enthusiastic and excited to do things and be with people. Charlotte is much more of an introvert, but always had a good time whenever they spent time together. Katryna was very kind and generous. As has been said, she will missed dearly. I should add that she had some amazing talents and a bright welcoming smile.

I haven't really known what to say, I know there isn't a lot that helps and I cant imagine the ache you feel, but I just wanted to tell you, and I hope you know, how dear she was to me. I have struggled with social anxiety, and Katryna always no matter what was able to get me out doing things, whether it was just taking a drive listening to the oldies we loved, or bowling, she always beat me but I don't mind, always going shopping, we would stop at bath& body works just to smell everything, and go to the record store to browse, even going to Dunvegan just to see the green houses and walk around. She was always able to cheer a person up, She went out of her way so many times, I can only hope she knew how much I appreciated her friendship. She is my main memories of high school. She always gave, and I wish more than anything that I could give something back. She was so intelligent, the most talented person in our graduating class, and she just wanted everyone to succeed. She loved people, and just wanted to make friends. Katryna had a quality you don't always find in people, she forgave and she never gave up on people. I'm going to be honest this is hard to write, and I never imagined I would be writing this, but I want to say though you know most of all, you raised a beautiful person, and I promise to always think of her, I am so terribly sorry.

I only met Katryna once while shopping at the Co-op store. I remember this clearly because of her radiant smile and because of the assistance she so cheerfully and willingly provided me with my shopping. I believe she had noticed my laboured walk and so she helped me locate the things I was shopping for, sometimes even taking them from the shelves and bringing them to my basket. Such a helpful young lady! It was only much later I realized that I had taught Katryna's Mom in high school a number of back. My sincere condolences to all Katrna's family.
