Obituary For Kelly Donald "Don" Reed
Kelly Donald "Don" Reed, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away at Grande Prairie Care Centre on Friday, May 13, 2016, at the age of 87 years.
Dad was born August 31, 1928 in the Grande Prairie Hospital. He was raised in the Valhalla area, with his siblings and went to the Molde School. He met Mom and married in 1948. He was a grain buyer with the Alberta Wheat Pool till 1960, then went farming in the Goodfare area. In 1967, the family moved to Grande Prairie where he drove truck for a living. He enjoyed camping and fishing and loved to have family around him, the more the merrier.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Linda Levaillant (Ed Johnson) of Unity, SK, Joann (David) Wiegel of Grande Prairie, Donna (Bob) Nichol of rural Grande Prairie, Debbie Reed of Grande Prairie, Garry (Jeanna) Reed of Creston, BC, Sandra (Jim) Edey of Creston, BC and Dennis (Cheryl) Reed of Sexsmith; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; sister in-law Ruby Reed; brother in-law George (Lucy) Wardill; sisters in-law: Mary (Harry) Vanden Dungen and Esther Wardill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Josephine (Wardill) Reed; granddaughter Carolyn Davis (Wiegel); mother Myrtle and father Raymond; father in-law Harry and mother in-law Ellen; brothers: Leroy, Earl, Vern and Harold (Rita); sister Blanche (Dick); nephew Jerry; sisters in-law: Hannah
(Ken) Palmer, Edna (Andy) Shmyr; brothers in-law: Thomas (Lydia) Wardill, Wilfred and John Wardill; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 7:00-9:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Arthritis Society of Alberta and NWT (#300, 1301 8 St SW, Calgary, AB, T2R 1B7), or to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care (10409-98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E8).
