Obituary For Kenneth George Thompson
It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth George Thompson of Valleyview, Alberta announce his passing after a brief time in the hospital, Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 85 years.
Ken and Jeanne moved to Valleyview in 1958 with their children Bob and Bonnie, where Ken worked on the drilling rigs. They then welcomed Doug, David and Billy to their family.
He purchased his first water truck in 1967 and was a local business man in the area for over 20 years. Ken loved being at the farm with his family for Sunday suppers, going for coffee, camping with his family and visiting with family and friends. He loved tinkering in his shed, on a seed drill or anything else he could get his hands on. Ken was a very strong and kind hearted man with a real soft spot for babies and spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Ken will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife Jeanne of 62 years and his children, Bob, Bonnie (Keith), Doug (Wendy), David and Billy. Ken will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Tony (Karen), Christy (Ryan), Leah (Justin), Courtney (Justin), Barb and Chelsea and older brother Allan Thompson of Ceylon, Saskatchewan. Ken was also very blessed to be a great-grandpa to Tyrell, Ethan, Katie, Evan, Adrienne, Jocelyn, Shelby and Devon. Along with many other friends and family, he will be missed.
Ken was predeceased by both his parents Laura and Charles Thompson.
As per Ken’s wishes, there will not be a service held.
With Heartfelt Thanks
The family of Ken Thompson would like to thank the Valleyview and Grande Prairie hospital nurses, staff and homecare nurses (Margaret). A special thank you to Dr. Schweggman, Dr. Verburg and Dr. Renfree. The family would also like to thank the family and friends who have showed their support with flowers, cards and stopping at the house.
