To Kenâ??s family, I send my deepest condolences. Hello, I am Jacquiâ??s sister. I still remember the wonderful wedding Ken and Jacqui had. I felt glad to meet Kenâ??s family, talk with his sisters, and was especially honoured to meet Kenâ??s mother Kathy. Ken was such a kind, generous, smart, and caring person. He could tell a joke better than anyone I knew. I remember visiting Jacqui and Ken with little kids in tow. At the end of the visit, Jacqui and Ken took us to the airportâ?¦ the plane was delayed so we had lots of time to chat over coffee and keep the little ones entertained. They were entranced by Kenâ??s funny stories and small games. I donâ??t know how he did it. I remember also his columns for the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. These were such significant issues he wrote about, and he did it in a memorable way. After my mother died, Ken sent a beautiful note. I would like to quote him, if I may, because the image he draws is so comforting. I hope it will comfort you now in your time of sorrow: â??I once heard the stars are little peepholes from heaven. When we lose people we love they will watch over us through those little peepholes. On a clear night when I look towards the heavens and see the millions of stars I sense an overwhelming feeling of togetherness. I sense I am not alone as I am being watched over by those that are important in my life. When I heard we lost our beloved Mabel one of those stars shined brighter.â?? And now we have lost our beloved Ken another of those stars shines brighter still.
