Obituary For Kenny Riczu

Kenny Alfred Riczu, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Peace River, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at home in Grande Prairie, at the age of 72 years.

Ken was born in Peace River on August 17, 1946. He settled in Grande Prairie with his wife, Mary Jean Duffy, where they had three children. Much of Ken’s work life was dedicated to the oil and gas industry where he had a long-term career in pipeline welding and eventually consulting.

Ken was a dog whisperer. He enjoyed puttering around the house, working in the garage, golf, fishing, cooking, and barbequing. He loved a good meal like steak and cabbage rolls.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Lori Riczu, Karen Riczu-Spiers and husband Jeff Spiers, and Brad Riczu; grandchildren: Andrea Street, Kimberly Street, Caitlin McDermott, Liam Spiers, and Kerrigan Spiers; sister Patricia Riczu MacGregor: Jody Riczu, Lori Riczu, and Sheri Hulan; aunts Irene Riczu and Pauline Evans; nieces and nephews: Dianne, Robbin Ashley, Peggy Carlyle, Violet Thomsen, Connie Smith, Darryl Thomsen, Chad Morrice, Maygan Welander, and Dana Riczu. Candace and Derek Stang, Eric and Cole Hulan, Carey and Tyson Hollingum.

Ken was predeceased by his mother Pauline, father Michael, brother Gary, and sisters Rose and Dorthy.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
