Obituary For Kevin Daniel Kresse
It is with unimaginable grief that we must announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Kevin Kresse, at the age of 54 years, on Friday, September 15, 2023. A larger than life, salt of the earth, genuine loving and hard-working man.
Kevin was born in Humboldt, SK, to Darlene and Jerome Kresse, on September 8, 1969. Being the youngest of 3, Kevin grew up on the family farm near Lanigan, SK, with brother Blaine and sister Colette. After graduating high school, Kevin went on to pursue his journeyman in welding. He settled in Estevan, SK, for a short time, travelling to Northern Alberta for work on the pipeline in the winter and spending his time travelling around playing ball in the summer. Kevin met his wife Heather at a ball tournament in Yorkton, SK. It was obvious he was smitten with her, and Heather couldn't turn down a cute guy in ball pants with a magnetic smile.
The first year that Kevin and Heather dated, they endured their first winter apart. That time apart and distance between proved to be too much for their hearts to handle. The very next spring they moved to Grande Prairie, AB, where they currently resided. Kevin and Heather got married on September 4, 2004. They welcomed their first daughter Emma on July 26, 2007, and their second daughter Abbey on November 17, 2008.
Kevin and Heather focused on working hard and raising their daughters. Family is everything. They started building their dream home on an acreage in 2014. Neither one afraid of hard work, they did whatever they could themselves and for what they couldn't do they contracted out. Building his own home, welding, and raising his girls with his loving wife beside him, there was always something to do. When Kevin did take time to relax, he'd grab his favourite beer and turn on the TV that was permanently tuned in to the sports channel. He loved watching all sports but always made sure he watched his favourite teams the Toronto Maple Leafs, Team Canada, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Blue Jays. Kevin's favourite part of the day was cooking with Heather. They made the best team, making the most savory meals to enjoy with their girls, family, and close friends.
Always extending an olive branch with laughter, sarcasm, and a "splash" of teasing. You always knew where you stood with Kevin. He held himself and everyone else to a high moral standard. He was a passionate soul. But no matter what side of the fence you were on, when it came down to it, he had everyone's back. He loved and protected his family like no other. Heather, Emma, and Abbey were his girls. He was so proud of all 3 of them and you could see it on his face. He knew he hit the jackpot with his girls and no one was going to interfere with that. Kevin was the best to a lot of people but most importantly he was the best Dad to Emma and Abbey, and the best husband to Heather.
Kevin will forever be loved and cherished by his soul mate, wife, and best friend of 19 years Heather; and his beautiful daughters Emma and Abbey. Kevin will also be carried in the hearts of his mother and father Darlene and Jerome Kresse; brother Blaine (Donna) and children: Cassandra (Glenn), and Larissa (Tavis) and their children Lynnae and Tripp; sister Colette (Norm) and children Brenna and Jaron; mother in-law Betty Lang; brother in-law Jason and children: Jacob, and Mya (Tyler) and their son Kaiden; brother in-law Reggie (Bobbi Jo) and children Brittany (Justin) and their children: Jackson and Stella, Dryden, Ava, Roman, and Maksim; as well as sister in-law Crystal (Gerry) with children Grady and Cooper. Kevin will be dearly missed by many other extended family members, friends, neighbours, and co-workers.
He was predeceased by his grandparents: Leo and Clara MacDonald, John and Susan Kresse; as well as father in-law Garth Lang.
The mould was broken with Kevin Kresse, and he will be thoroughly missed by all who knew and loved him. We'll greet you at home plate Kevin, rest easy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.). Luncheon to follow.
A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Kevin’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

Our family sends Heather, Emma and Abbey our love and support in the coming days. What a beautiful tribute today; we watched the livestream and it is obvious how loved Kevin was. As a neighbour, he was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand and laugh. It was clear to anyone who had the pleasure to know him how much he meant to Heather and his girls. How unfair life is to lose someone so wonderful. Love, Kiki, Neil, Kristopher and Noah. Wea re here for you always.

Kev and I were always paird on the pipeline together! I first met him in Rainbow and ever since then, when ever we got to see each other on a line, they always paired us up....every time! Last time we were together was in Fort St. John! We would continuously laugh and joke together! We would torment each other and play tricks on each other! we would race against each other and you always try to make me screw up if I was beating him! One time he snuffed out, and instead of him, let me win he pulled my ground off the pipe.... then he was laughing and said I got you mofo! Last time I talked to him was in the summer, he called me and asked me how come, I'm not there! He was a good man, a good family man! If there was something wrong, he always tried to help, I remember one time in the beginning of our relationship he saw me helping and teaching a new Welder on the pipeline! he said you're a good boy Mikey, you take the time to help others, we are a lot alike and that's what makes you good boy! Rest easy brother.... We will meet again. Love you man

Kevin is one of my best friends growing up I Lanigan. He slept at my house more than his own in high school. I remember cruising in his blue Monte Carlo and laughing our asses off enjoying life to the fullest like teenagers should. His parents were the best I remember his dad's warm smile and his mom's cooking with love. Amazing people and the best family ever. Love you old buddy, rest in peace my friend. Will see you on the other side.
