Obituary For Laferne Alberta Rodacker

Laferne Rodacker, resident of West Kelowna, B.C, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at age 83.

Laferne was born on a farm in Eaglesham, Alberta, on December 5, 1939. She moved with her family to Grande Prairie in 1944, where her father worked for the Dept. of Highways. Laferne graduated from Grande Prairie High School (with honors), and then from McTavish Business College in Edmonton (also with honors). After moving back to Grande Prairie, she worked in the office at the Dept. of Highways. In 1960, she married Wayne Rodacker, and after raising three boys, moved back into the business world, managing the office at Steel Industries LTD. Laferne was a very happy and talented person, whether it was looking after her grandkids, or using one of her many musical talents (singing, playing or directing).

Laferne will be sadly missed by her husband of 63 years, Wayne Rodacker; her 3 sons, Wade (Heather), Mark (Janet), and Reed (Nicole); grandchildren, Tayler, Mckayla, Spencer, Kirsten, Tayvis, Jasmine, and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Nash, Owen, Jordan, Gwen, Lillian, and Mason.

She was predeceased by her parents, Stuart and Lola Ditch; as well as siblings, Dorman Ditch and Faye Innes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Luncheon to follow in Oliver's Tea Room.

Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation (11205 110 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B1).
