Obituary For Lana le Roux van Tonder

Lana van Tonder, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Okotoks, AB, and Fort McMurray, AB, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 52 years.

Lana was born in South Africa where she grew up, studied, and lived. The family moved to Fort McMurray in 2008 where she, her husband Cor, and their three children, Estelle, Gerhard, and Francois, lived until 2012. After that, the family moved to Okotoks, AB where they lived for two years. Lana, Cor, and their youngest son, Francois, moved back to South Africa at the end of 2014 while Estelle and Gerhard moved back to Fort McMurray. Lana and Cor continued to work and Sexsmith, AB, and they travelled back and forth between South Africa and Sexsmith.

Lana was a Registered Nurse in South Africa, but had not been working as a nurse for the past few years. Instead she was a loving mom who raised her kids and supported her husband. She was loved in all the communities and was actively involved at Bible study groups wherever they lived. She was a dear friend to all who met her.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Cor van Tonder; children: Estelle (Sean) Joyce, Gerhard, and Francois; grandchild Charlize (8 weeks old); as well as family and friends in Canada and South Africa.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Fort City Church in Fort McMurray, AB. Cremation will take place on November 25, 2019 in Grande Prairie, AB.
