Obituary For Landra May Ziegeman Blanchette

Landra May Blanchette, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Fort St. John, BC, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 53 years.

Landra was born in Watson Lake, YT on January 24, 1965. She was the third child of Irvin and Martha Ziegeman. Her childhood and school years were spent in Fort St. John, BC.

She met her spouse, Jimmy, in high school. They moved to Grande Prairie in 1986 and were married on September 5, 1992. Her son, Dawson, was born on June 24, 1999. Landra worked many years at the Grande Prairie Co-op, and worked with Hi-Tech Business Systems until her passing.

Landra loved golfing and being a hockey mom. She loved the outdoors, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.

Her smile was infectious, and lit up her face. She was a true friend to everyone in her life. She had such a big heart and we were blessed to be a part of her journey.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Jim Blanchette, son Dawson Blanchette, parents Irvin and Martha Ziegeman, and siblings Mona Gould, and Darryl Ziegeman.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 3:00pm, at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre in Grande Prairie (11633 100 St.).

After the memorial service there will be celebration of life gathering in the hall until 10:00pm, and we encourage you all to join us to celebrate her life.

Hello Jimmy. I just heard from some friends about Landraâ??s passing. I can remember the last time I talked to her; Dawson was just 2 then, so it has been a long time. But she was a person that people just remembered, always beautiful and always kind. So I wanted to add my condolences and tell you how saddened I am to hear of our loss, and your loss. My nephew died unexpectedly a few months ago and I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what life is like for you right now. And what the next weeks and months will be like. The first time I met death years ago, I learned how hard we have to work at accepting the idea that people die, that is how life goes. And we are lucky to have them as long as we do. But, I donâ??t know Jimmy, Landra was one of those people the world could have used for a lot longer. So this work we do to feel lucky and grateful and thankful, well, it is pretty onerous when you just want her back. And though we know itâ??s not going help to scream or rage, and we know she would never want that for a moment, well, sometimes we might feel it inside us anyway. I know the people closest to Landra, and you and Dawson are with you now. Please know too that there are many more people on the outside like me, who are also thinking about you and sending you strength to get through this time until, one day, finally, the ache eases a tiny bit and the smiles come more easily. Most sincerely, Shari Doedel.
