Obituary For Laura Lee Mazurkewich Canning

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Laura Canning announce her passing on Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Points West Hospice at the young age of 56 years.

Laura was born in Spirit River, AB on September 6, 1960. She was raised in the Eaglesham area - where she met the love of her life, Randy. They married on August 4, 1979 and went on to raise two wonderful children.

Laura enjoyed life and she showed it every day with her quick smile and her infectious laugh. She was loving, caring and compassionate – she had a heart of gold and everyone who met her knew this. She loved volunteering for various organizations and she would take the time to visit with everyone she could at the different functions she attended.

She enjoyed visiting with people of all ages, camping and golfing with family and friends, spending quiet times at home with her sidekick Copper (cat) who kept her company while she would scratch lottery tickets, watch tv or spend time on her computer.

Laura’s children and grandchildren gave her the greatest pleasure in life – every day was a new adventure with them.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband Randy,

Daughter Tammy (Bernard);Paij, Skylar, Hart, and Raylan

Son Ashley (Erin); Shylo and Surrenity

Mother, Edna Socha; Sister, Lorraine Bergseth (Harold); Brother, Danny Mazurkewich; Father-in-law, Gordon Canning; Brothers-in-law, Ken (Marg); Brian Canning and their families and numerous family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Stanley and Annie Socha, Mother-in-law Doris Canning and numerous family members.

A Celebration of Laura’s life will be held at Randy and Laura’s residence on Saturday July 8th from 1-4 p.m. Please contact Randy Canning for his address.

Memorial donations in memory of Laura, may be made to a trust fund for her grandchildren.

    I worked with Laura for several years at Zellers in Grande Prairie and we shared many tears, jokes and laughter. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing, my thoughts and prayers are with the whole family during this difficult time. Her bright smile and often shy laughter was infectious.

    My prayers and thoughts Randy and family. My fondest childhood memories of Laura was her love for animals. It was always a highlight visiting Laura in the store when I was in town. She had such a beautiful smile. Darlene
