Obituary For Leonard "Len" Henry Wiens

Leonard Henry Wiens resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 55 years.

Len was born in Vancouver, BC, on July 23, 1967. He grew up in Spirit River, AB, and graduated from Spirit River Secondary School. Len joined the Military in 1989, fulfilling a lifelong dream. After being discharged, he worked at Co-op, IGA, Northern Bottling, and Grimshaw Trucking.

Throughout his life, Len enjoyed nature, building models, gardening, and grumbling. On March 4, 2022, he received the devastating news that he had stage 4 lung cancer. Len spent the next few months renewing his faith and his most meaningful relationships. His time living with his parents and in hospice became such a source of joy for him. He was promoted to heaven on August 7, 2022.

Len will be sadly missed by his parents Henry and Darlene Wiens; sister Crystal Thompson (Richard); nephews Liam and Callum Thompson; as well as sister Noreen Wiens.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 1:30pm, at People’s Church in Grande Prairie (11850 108 St.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on the People’s Church website (https://peopleschurchgp.com/).

Memorial Donations may be made to Prairie Lake Hospice (11460 104 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 3G9).
