Obituary For Lester Johnson
Lester Alfred Johnson, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Teepee Creek, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the QEII Hospital at the age of 91 years.
Lester was born April 25, 1926, in Sylvan Lake, AB. He later moved to the Peace Country area at the age of 12, where he lived with the Weises family.
At the age of 18, Lester started working in various saw mills in the area. In 1953, he married Ella Sorken. They farmed and raised their family in Teepee Creek area.
Lester always enjoyed working with horses, spending time with family, and friends, and volunteering at the Teepee Creek Stampede.
He will be sadly missed by children: Andy (Fran) Johnson, Larry (Gloria) Johnson, and step-son Andy (Maxine) Jenne; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lester was predeceased by wife Ella; second wife Ingrid; brothers: Bill, Louis, Walter, Wilson, and Wesley.
A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 6:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home, in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 11:00am, Oliver’s Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at the Teepee Creek Cemetery. A luncheon to follow at Teepee Creek Hall, in Teepee Creek.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Unit 109, 10126 120 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9).
