Obituary For Leverne Gilbert Gustavson
Leverne Gilbert Gustavson, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital at the age of 74 years.
Leverne was born in Sexsmith, AB, on September 11, 1947, the second oldest of ten children, the oldest son of Ingvar and Susan Gustavson. He was raised in Wembley, AB, and moved to Prince George, BC, as a young adult. He enjoyed camping, travelling and meeting new people as he was a true extrovert. He was a master of designing and building homes in Prince George, Vancouver Island, BC, and Goodfare, AB. A jack-of-all-trades, mechanic, plumber, and electrician, he was always eager to help anyone who asked him to fix anything. He had a passion for music, was a guitar player extraordinaire, and loved jamming with friends and family. He loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and most times he would win!
Leverne was a kind, loving, playful, generous and humble man. He was often described as charismatic, goofy and fun-loving. He loved the Lord and would give you the shirt off his back and ask for nothing in return. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life, and he was a father figure for his siblings. He was so “over the moon” when he became a grandfather to his youngest grandchild, Lars Gustavson, on October 7, 2021. He was able to spend his last few days holding and loving Lars.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Heather, Laveena, Allison, Lawrence (CJ), Aaron, and Sara; stepchildren: Christine, Corrie, Johanna, Esther and Calvin; siblings: Jeanette, Maureen (Gordon) Meyer, Edie (Richard) Lemire, Leroy, Neil (Debra), Marshall (Kathy), Donna (Dan) Ryan, and Nicky (David) Fisher; as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his father Ingvar (1970), mother Susanna (2005), and brother Tony (2020).
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Interment to follow at Lake Saskatoon Cemetery.
