Obituary For Lillian Frances Garant (nee Parlee)

Lillian Garant, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 82 years.

Lillian was born August 20, 1941, in Grande Prairie, AB, to Dave and Eva Parlee. She was raised in Wanham alongside her eight siblings.

Lillian’s family moved to Grande Prairie in her teenage years, where she attended the Grande Prairie Composite High School. While she worked at a local jewellery store, a handsome man came in to get a watch repaired. That man, Wayne Garant, became her husband soon after. They settled on a farm outside of Clairmont and raised their four children there.

Lillian loved spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed time in her large garden, caring for the livestock, and making goodies in her kitchen.

Lillian taught herself to play piano and loved to sing. She enjoyed time outdoors, camping, and fishing. She was very involved in her church and church-related ministries. She lived her life helping others, which brought her joy knowing she made a difference to someone in need.

Lillian will be sadly missed by her son-in-law Dale (Cris) Jones; daughters Jodi (Trevor) Whitby, and Denise (Chris) Jones; and son Lee (Koreen) Garant; grandchildren: Krystin (Ty) Bond-Holloway, Keaton Jones, Anwyn (Kale) Emerson, Lawson (Maddy) Garant, Rachael Whitby, Sydney Jones, Sean Whitby, Owen Jones, Eddyson Garant, and Didier Garant; great-grandchildren: Rylee, Madison, Laine, Austin, and Elsie; siblings: Alfred (Clara) Parlee, Ruth (Lynn) Neufeld, Bev (Don) Fast, and Betty (Gary) McRae. She was an aunt to numerous children and sister-in-law to Gail (Magne) Steiestol.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband Wayne, daughter Michelle Jones, parents Dave and Eva Parlee, brothers: Morgan, Linton, and Dan; and sister Margaret.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00am, at Bezanson Community Church (9801 103 St.).

Memorial Donations may be made to Bear Lake Bible Camp (Box 290 Sexsmith, AB. T0H 3C0).

Lillian was one of the first people I met when I moved to Gr.Pr. in 1983. She was one of the kindest, most loving people I have ever met. She loved the Lord and people. Heaven just keeps growing sweeter. My heartfelt condolences to all the family.

I was one of Lillian's Health Care Aide's at Emerald Gardens. I loved Lillian! She always had a smile for me and would make sure I knew she loved me. I will remember her beautiful smile, her music ( we had to aleays have it playing for her) and if she was having a good day...she would almost be running us over with her walker! Lol. My daughter also worked with her at the Gardens. My daughter took Lillian's passing very hard. My daughter told me she viewed this beautiful lady as an adoptive Grandmother. She always made sure Reilley was smiling. Our condolences to the family. Lillian will always be in our hearts
