Margaret was born 20 Jun 1923 in Johanna’s Maternity Home in Sexsmith, Alberta. She married William C. “Bill” Lowe on August 26, 1946 at Christ Church Anglican in Grande Prairie. Margaret and Bill spent the first ten years of their marriage living in Edmonton, then returned to Grande Prairie in 1956. She taught school at Swanavon and Avondale in Grande Prairie, retiring in 1988. She also was very musical, playing both piano and organ.

Margaret’s mother passed away in 1952 at the age of 54, of cancer. Her only sibling, Dr. Donald Wilson, was tragically killed in a plane crash near Whitecourt in November 1953. He had volunteered to accompany a polio patient in a hand-lung machine who was being transferred from Grande Prairie to Edmonton. The pilot and patient were also killed, all three were young men with families. Her father passed away in 1985 at the age of 90 and her husband, Bill, in 1998 at the age of 77.

Thanks to the Staff on 5 North at the QE II Hospital, Dr. Noga, Dr. Angela Barreth and Dr. Pope; Staff and residents of Pioneer Lodge; Christ Church Anglican Ministers Janice and Fariborz and the ACW ladies; and our dear friends Berna and Babie, without whose loving help she could not have remained in her own home for the last four years.

A Celebration of Life for Margaret will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Christ Church Anglican in Grande Prairie (6610 Poplar Drive). Reception to follow in the Church Hall.

Dear Alison, Don, Allan & families, My sincere sympathy to all of you following Margaret's death. I am quite honoured that I had the privilege of knowing her during those years when I lived in Grande Prairie. Margaret was a genuinely kind, caring person - quite lovely! Always enjoyed when our women's group met at her home and were served tea in such a beautiful & classy way! Margaret was a very special person.
