It is with great sadness and heavy heart, we announce the passing of Linda Cicilia Wilson (nee Holden) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 83.

Linda was born on February 8, 1942, in Drumheller, Alberta, to Walter and Rosalia Holden. She cherished a simple yet loving childhood, growing up alongside her four siblings. She often spoke fondly of her early years in Drumheller, whether it was exploring the Hoodoos, playing in the hills, or working at Jimmy’s Grocery Store. Those memories always brought a smile to her face.

She later moved to Whitecourt, AB where she raised her three children: Rhonda, Rodney and Kathy. She built a meaningful career, first at Whitecourt Hospital and later as the head of housekeeping at the River’s Hotel. In 1993, she settled in Grande Prairie, the place she proudly called home for the past 32 years.

Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother, always ready for a heartfelt chat or a warm visit. She was an avid baker, with a freezer full of treats ready to share with anyone who stopped by. She had a sharp wit and dry sense of humor that always kept us laughing.

She had a wide range of interests. She loved playing board games (especially Scrabble), working on puzzles, coloring, crocheting, reading and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed watching biographies, true crime shows, sports and captivating TV series, often with classic country music playing in the background.

Linda had a strong work ethic and deeply rooted family values. She was a constant source of support and comfort, always there to listen and lend a helping hand. Her home was a place of warmth, filled with love and laughter, where family was always well received.

Linda is survived by her children; Rhonda (Ray) Commandeur, Rodney (Debbie) Wilson, Kathy (Trevor) Wilson. She was a proud grandmother to: Darren (Crystal) McPhee, Jayson (Jacqueline) McPhee, Christie (Paul) Beard, Brennan Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Brooklynn Wilson, Colten Sutherland, Derek (Dayel) Sutherland, Kacie Haire. Great grandmother to: Ava, Eddie McPhee, Jack, Hudson Beard and Gracie, Gavin, Sadie and Beau Sutherland. Sister, Barbara Calon, brother-in-law Gordon Ripper, sister-in-law Danna Holden and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Rosalia and Walter Holden, brother Grenville Holden and sister Cora Ripper and sister and brother-in-law Marina and Bruce Glennie and brother-in-law Paul Calon.

There will be a private Memorial Service held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie)
