Obituary For Linda Jane Gorgichuk Tangen
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our amazing mom, grandma, sister, sister in-law, aunty, and friend to so many, Linda Jane Tangen (nee Gorgichuk). A longtime resident of Grande Prairie, she passed away quietly on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the age of 65 years, with her dear sister Doris and brother in-law Peter at her side. She fought an inspirational battle with cancer for over nine years, always smiling and encouraging those around her. Although truly saddened by her loss, her family is celebrating that she is finally at peace.
Linda was born September 16, 1954. in Spirit River, AB, to Melvyne and Rose Gorgichuk. She was the middle of seven children. The family moved to Wembley when she was six. She completed all her schooling in Wembley until heading to high school in Beaverlodge. Linda started her family after high school; she was the proud mom of two boys, Jason and Jeff Tangen, whom she raised with her loving Joe by her side.
Eventually they moved from Wembley into Grande Prairie where she opened Dynamic Designs in the Town Centre Mall before relocating onto Clairmont Road. She then spent many years with Inter Pro Property Management. After leaving the landlord life, she first worked for United Carpet before buying in with partner Dan Bergdsma which eventually became Nufloors. During her entrepreneurial years, she also had many small and home businesses on the side that she made very successful.
Linda always had a smile on her beautiful face which certainly bolstered her success in retail and sales. She was successful at whatever she set out to do. She was a respected landlord, a friendly salesperson, and a tenacious businesswoman. She could out-golf you on any given day that she put her mind to it. As she dabbled in the world of retirement, she made many new friends in her new homes in both Nanaimo, BC and in Mesa, Arizona.
Linda always had time for her grandkids whom she adored. Taylor, Terran, Gracie, and Tyson (aka Boots) were the centre of her world. She was proud of their achievements and loved to share. She would consider them her greatest treasure. This is the kind of Aunty she was as well, attending many special events for them, and spreading her love. She was also a fantastic dog mom to her puppies: Eddie, Angel, and Abby.
She will be greatly missed by her sons Jason Tangen and Jeff Tangen; grandchildren: Taylor Wold, Terran Tangen Johnson, Gracie Caumartin, and Tyson Tangen; siblings: Al (Joan), Ken (Cheryl), Doris Kolybaba (Peter), Dan (Betty), Marilyn and Wayne (Nancy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her lifelong friends Sheila Gorgichuk and Karen Nielsen.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe Supple and her parents Melvyne and Rose Gorgichuk.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 1:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home by invitation only due to current restrictions. There will be a livestream of the service for those who are unable to attend in person. The link will be on Linda’s obituary at oliversfuneralhome.com within a half hour of the service start time.
Memorial donations to the Redwater Health Centre Auxiliary (PO Box 39, Redwater, AB, T0A 2W0) who cared for Linda so compassionately in her final days, or the Canadian Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5) may be made to honour Linda's life.

Jason & families. I'm very sad to hear of Linda's passing. My heat goes out to everyone in the families. Chin up Jason. She's up there guiding everyone. She always looked so serious but had the greatest heart. Wish I could come to her farewell. I have some great memories from when we were younger.
