Obituary For Lorne Eugene Edlund

It’s with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lorne Eugene Edlund, the beloved son of David and Sharon, brother to Laurie and Harvey, uncle to Baileigh, Brennen, and Alyssa, great-uncle to Zilyana and Ezekiel, nephew to Darlene, Arluene, Marjorie, Lenard (Shirley), Alfred, Gordon (Ruth), Anita; and very special friends Richard and Wendy.

Lorne was predeceased by his father David; uncles Johnny and Al; aunt Linda; grandparents Jim and Lillian Wright, Carl and Janet Edlund.

Lorne was diagnosed with kidney disease at age 5. In 1998, Lorne’s kidneys failed. Laurie donated a kidney to him in December 1998. He had 9 good years before he fell ill and lost the kidney. In September 2008, he went back on dialysis 3 times a week until his passing. He was a fighter and fought a brave fight to the end.

Lorne loved fishing, camping, motorcycles, reading and leatherworking. In 2002, Lorne and his dad went on an ultimate fishing trip to Sandspit in the Queen Charlotte Islands, BC. They caught many salmon and he caught a 170 lbs Halibut. What a trip. He dreamed of going back but his health would not allow it.

Lorne went to work as a swamper after dropping out of school in grade 10. He worked seismic for many years and at Harry’s Auto Wrecking for a few years.

Lorne had a passion for motorcycles and was part of Toys for Tots for many years. He loved kids, they all knew him as Uncle Moose. Lorne built his first motorcycle with the help of his friends in the early 2000’s. His dream ride was the trike he built from scratch with the help of Richard. He only rode it 3 or 4 times before his health deteriorated.

Ride on Lorne.

Condolences

  • June 24, 2021

My condolences to your family and big hug for you, Sharon.

On behalf of myself and all the staff of the dialysis unit at the QEII we send our deepest condolences for your loss. Lorne was very special to all of us and will be missed immensely at the unit. Lorne was like family to us as we spent many hours with him during his treatment. Our Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning group will never be the same without him and we will miss his sarcastic sense of humour the most.

Lorne was truly one of a kind. As one of his 3 original Dialysis nurses when he first returned to us, Lorne was family, as we knew him so well. We had many stories, laughs and sadness. He always said he dreaded walking that dark hall leading to the dialysis unit in the mornings. We so wished a donor kidney would be there for him once again, sadly that was not to be. Sincerest condolences to Lorneâ??s family. You will be missed. Ride on in the heavens.
