Obituary For Louis Almon Charles "Charlie" Saville
It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 86 years of age, Charlie passed peacefully in his home with his loving wife Doris, at his side.
Born in Irma, AB, on October 9, 1936, this farm boy loved to work whether he was railroading, logging, driving taxi, or on the oil rigs. Anyone in the oilfield knows this means moving around a lot. During his time working the rigs, he met and married the love of his life Doris. Charlie and Doris settled in Little Smoky, AB, in 1963. His passion for hard work led him to homesteading his own piece of land.
In 1968, Charlie purchased an old rickety rig to drill water wells for his family and neighbors. After many years of working the rigs and drilling water wells, he started his own business Saville Water Well in 1972. Brad and Darrell worked alongside Charlie for many years. Between the family, farm, and business, Charlie's unique sense of humour kept his "crew" entertained. Keeping close with "the guys" from the rigs he was always meeting up with friends from all the different places he'd worked. River boating became another source of adventure and memories. Charlie always had a one liner for any situation. He was always saying "If you get a chance, hurry" He was a one-of-a-kind man who will be missed.
Left with fond memories and a lot of love is: Doris his wife of 63 years; sons Brad (Linda), and Darrell (Christine), grandchildren: Cami (Deston), Chase (Courtney), Chance, Devin, and Briana; great-grandchildren: Cade, Kenzie, Rigley, and Brewen; siblings: Joe (Joan) Saville, Lorine Rogers, Tom (Carole) Saville, Doug (Jo-Anne) Saville, Bob Saville, Shirley (Dennis) Perry, Peter (Carole) Saville, Grant (Marlene) Pavely, Gloria Pavely, Don Tillier and Bill Tillier; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents Joe Saville and Irene Pavely; siblings: Betty Saville, Frank and Marilyn Saville, and Josie and Phil Holt.
The family would like to extend gratitude to Dr. Verburg, all of Charlie's amazing care givers, and the staff at the Valleyview Health Center.
As per Charlie's request there will be no service.

I have very fond memories of Charlie and Doris with my mother. What stands out in my mind is hearing them all roaring with laughter. Although it is corny to say, "they don't make them like that like they used to." Will always be missed. Bill Tillier
