Obituary For Lucille Neufeld
Lucille Neufeld, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Spirit River, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017, in the QEll Hospital, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 84 years.
Lucille was born on October, 21, 1932, in the Cabana District of Saskatchewan. She grew up on a farm near Meadow Lake, SK. She met her husband Bernie while she was working in Calgary at one of the hospitals there. In 1956 they were married. They then spent many years moving from town to town while Bernie built elevators for the Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1962 they settled in Spirit River where they raised their 4 children.
Lucille enjoyed going to the farm, camping and spending many weekends with neighboring friends from around the farm. It seemed to be the place for everyone to come and visit. Lucille and Bernie enjoyed just taking the truck and trailer and going on road trips to wherever it might take them. It was not unheard of to get a call from them saying they were in Vancouver, Calgary or Alaska.
Lucille enjoyed gardening and baking for her family. Her donuts and buns were a favorite.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Roxanne (Arnie) Yuzik, and Michele (Doug) Kulba; son Rick (Chona) Neufeld; grandchildren: Ryan (Danita), Brennan (Gillian), Erika and Thomas.
Lucille was predeceased In August, 2011 by her husband Bernie after 55 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her daughter Brenda, granddaughter Windy-Lee, 6 sisters, her brother, and her parents Macville and Roseanna.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Ronald McDonald House in memory of her special Granddaughter Windy-Lee (7726-107 St., Edmonton, AB, T6E 4K3).
