Obituary For Lucy Marie Grotkowski Lucuk
Lucy Marie Lucuk, longtime resident of Grande Prairie and the Sexsmith area, passed away holding the hand of her husband on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Points West Hospice, at the age of 69 years.
Lucy was born on April 22, 1949 in Sexsmith, AB, where she was raised on the farm and attended school. After university, she began her teaching career in Hythe and continued her work in Grande Prairie as both a permanent and substitute teacher. She married the love of her life, Steve, in July of 1971 and together they enjoyed 47 years working, playing and gardening in Grande Prairie and at their garden spot in the Sexsmith area.
Her passions in life were spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking, baking, curling and travelling. Spending time with and babysitting her young grandchildren brought her much joy in her final years.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Steve; children: Marlin (Kitrina); grandchildren: Gracelyn and Ashlee; and siblings: Emily (Harry) Schudlo, Linda (Lorne) Greenhorn and Ken (Verna) Grotkowski.
She was predeceased by her parents Alex and Natalie Grotkowski.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 10:30am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (Box 21215, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 6W7).
