Obituary For Margaret Elizabeth Hennigar

Margaret Hennigar, resident of Clairmont, AB, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 94 years.

Margaret was born on June 10, 1928, to Sigma and Eric Nelson. She was raised in Teepee Creek, AB, where she met Lawrence (her cowboy), and married in 1947. They lived in Bad Heart then moved to Sexsmith, Clairmont, Emerson Trail, back to Sexsmith, and settling in Grande Prairie. Margaret worked as a homemaker, bus driver, and concession for Rose Sinclair and Sexsmith Curling Club.

Margaret was happy and loved by many. She was super supportive of all her kids and grandchildren in their activities. She also enjoyed reading Danielle Steel books and watching curling and her favorite Blue Jays.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her children: Doreen (Bryan) Sandboe, Pat (Larry) Barr, Darrell (June) Hennigar, Doug (Brenda) Hennigar, and Penny (Mervin) Ducharme; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as 3 great great-grandchildren.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; mother Sigma Nelson; father Eric Nelson; brother Ivan (Stella) Nelson; sisters Doris (Abe) Quaig and Vera; numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews; as well as special cousin Fred Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 2:00pm, at People's Church in Grande Prairie (11850 108 St.).

Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

many years ago your Mom welcomed a young Sutherland girl, (Pat's school friend) into her home in Clairmont. We rode the school bus from Harry Balfour & trooped into the house, one, two, three, four perhaps five of us? I recall being awfully nervous at first, but soon felt completely at ease. Mr. Hennigar's questioning & teasing, the Mrs in the kitchen, chattering, smiles & laughter , loving her brood. I have always looked forward to a next visit. Her kindness & care for others ( esp 'stray chicks') is for me Margaret's legacy . Sincere sympathies to all Hennigar families on the loss of your Mother . Sincerely Sharon & Don Nelson

The Tink-Hennigar connection began in the Bad Heart- Smokey Heights area and continued through Sexsmith, Clairmont, and Grande3 Prairie. Margaret and Lawrence were a large part of our family and will always hold a special in our memories. Margaret always made you feel so glad you"d seen her. Really a life well lived. Bryan
