Obituary For Margaret Ellen Leamy LeCerf
Margaret “Peggy” Ellen LeCerf, long-time resident of Grande Prairie, AB, departed this world peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the age of 93 years.
Peggy was born on February 3, 1927, and raised in Canterbury, Kent, England. During WWII, at the age of 17, Peggy joined and served in the Women's Auxiliary Corp. of the British Army. There she met and later married Henri LeCerf, a Canadian soldier who was stationed in England. In February of 1946, Henri returned to Canada, and Peggy made the long journey in August to join Henri in Alberta. Together, they raised a family of six children.
She was known for her strong faith and her love of family. Peggy enjoyed knitting, cryptic crosswords, cooking and dancing. One of the most treasured legacies she has left her family is her memories, stories and wisdom all compiled into the writings of her memoirs.
Peggy is survived and remembered by her children: Judy (Brian) Riddle, Roger, Michael, Peter (Dawn) and Anne (Wade); grandchildren: Laurie (Steve) Barrett, Kent (Tiffany) Riddle, Tara (James) Pike, Shirine (Geoff) Gordon, Caroline (Richard) LaPierre, Rene (Teri), Jéan, Thomas (Jordi), Robyn, Jacques, Alanna, Nicholas (Elizabeth); 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and close friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Henri; son Christopher; sister Joan; and brothers Jack and Ted.
Peggy’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Hosna and the staff at the Prairie Lake Hospice, who provided such compassionate care to Peggy and her family in the final days of her journey.
An invitation-only service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 11:00am.
A Livestream will be available to view 5-10 minutes before the start of the service on Oliver’s Funeral Home Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/olivers.funeral.home/).

Dear Judy, Roger, Michael, Peter, Anne, and the entire family, I hold fond memories of Peg during my couple of years in Grande Prairie, especially when visiting Henri at the hospital and of course for his funeral. Peg was a strong, lively, faith filled person. I remember the stories and laughter we had, and I know well the love she had for all of you! Know I am with you in prayer and support from Toronto. Love and Prayers, Fr. Santo Arrigo C.Ss.R.
