Obituary For Marjorie Ann Quirk

Marjorie Anne Quirk, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Fort Nelson, BC, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 83 years.

Marge was born on August 7, 1939, to Edwin “Eddy” and Ethel Hunter in Rimbey, AB. She was raised in the Winfield area. Marge worked in the Winfield General Store, a family-owned business.

She married Del Batke in 1956 and they had four children. Marge operated the first Alberta government telephone switchboard in her home. She married Don Quirk in 1983 and together they had one son.

Marge loved her family dearly, and had many pictures in her home to portray that. She had a strong faith in God throughout her life and spoke His word often.

She was a fabulous knitter and made the most beautiful slippers and gifts for all in the family. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, curling, and dancing.

Marge will be sadly missed by her husband Don Quirk; children: Holly (Marcel), Melodie (Tony), Pam, and Donnie Jr. (Callie); grandchildren: Jody, Kyle, Billy, Cody, Kinlee, Leslee, T.J, Clifford, Grant, Chad, Paisley, and Piper; as well as great-grandchildren: Karl, Shanelle, Meagan, Jasper, Katie, Leah, Brad, Riley, Bethanny, Bailey, Hayes, Texie, Presley, Tayden, Hayden, Ellie, Emberely, and Delora; as well as sister Sheila Shea.

She was predeceased by her father Edwin Hunter; mother Ethel hunter; son Daryl Batke; brother in-law Arnie Shea; mother in-law Shirley Quirk, and father in-law John Quirk.

A family gathering will be held at a later date.
