Obituary For Marjorie Gladys Lambright

On Friday, November 8, 2024, Marjorie Gladys Lambright passed away peacefully with her family all around her at Prairie Lake Seniors Community. She left us to be with her husband, Frank Earl Lambright, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2012.

Marj was born to Amollia Gladys and Sidney Norris-Jones on December 29, 1930, in Edmonton, AB. Marj grew up with the big city lifestyle. As a young woman she worked the candy counter in Eatons Department Store, where she caught the eye of a stock boy, who had dreams of being a farmer in the wilds of northern Alberta. On November 1, 1952, they got married and struck off with Frank’s three brothers to carve out a place in that wilderness. After many trials Marj soon became good at homesteading; becoming known for her haircuts and cake decorating.

Together Marj and Frank had five children, Sidney, Judy (died 1957), Dale, Marjorie (Dolly) and Kenneth.

Later Marj and Frank became avid campers, sharing trips near and far with family and friends while creating many memories. Marj’s greatest joy was making quilts for all her kids and grandchildren. She hand quilted every stitch.

In 2004, they retired from farming and moved into Grande Prairie, AB, to be closer to the amenities, their children and grandchildren.

Marj was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Earl; daughter Judy; her parents, Sidney and Amollia Norris-Jones, and two brothers, Sidney and Irven Norris-Jones. Marj was also preceded in death by both of Frank’s parents, Jesse Frank and Nellie Madge Lambright; Frank’s brothers: Jesse George (Dan), Robert Frank (Rob) and Roy Lambright.

Marj is survived by her brother Lionel Norris-Jones; her four aforementioned children, six grandchildren: Jonathan, Angela, Katrina, Judy, Alexandra, and Jesse; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Oliver’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation and Marj’s ashes will join Frank’s in the Eaglesham Cemetery at a later date.

A Celebration of Marj’s life will be held to honor her at the family farm near Tangent, AB. Details will be announced at a later date.
