Obituary For Marlene Jensen Birnie-Browne
Marlene Gail Birnie-Browne (Jensen), lifelong resident of the Grande Prairie area, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Points West Hospice in Grande Prairie, at the age of 73 years.
Marlene was born on May 30, 1942, in Grande Prairie to Mae and Marvin Jensen. A large part of her life was making sure her family was well taken care of. She worked alongside her husband Jerry throughout different ventures such as heavy equipment, ranching, and farming. She always had many animals and pets around. Her dog Missy was very special, as well as her pet buffalo.
Marlene loved nature and was an avid and knowledgeable bird watcher. She loved gardening and took great pride in her yard and flower beds. She loved the sport of curling, and never missed cheering on her favorite team.
She will be sadly missed by sons: Wade (Glenda) and Kurt (Angela); grandchildren: Shayla, Jaeden, Mason, Jordyn and Jerry; as well as many family members and friends.
She was predeceased by husband Gerald (Jerry), parents Mae and Marvin Jensen, and brother Lyle Jensen.
As per Marlene’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (103 9805 97 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8B9), or to a charity of one’s choice.
