Obituary For Mary Elizabeth Desjarlais
Mary Elizabeth Desjarlais, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Nova Scotia, passed away after a brief battle with cancer, on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 80 years.
Mary was born in a small farming community. She moved across the country in 1963 to Edmonton. She made her way to Grande Prairie in 1966, where she raised her family and lived out the rest of her life.
Mary was stubborn, outspoken, strong-willed, selfless, loving, compassionate, and committed. She enjoyed puzzles, baking, reading, listening to her radio, and going above and beyond for others.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Beve, Ricky, Sandy, and Darlene; grandchildren: David, Destiny, Trayzee, Cody, Jessie, Tarina, and Rai; great-grandchildren: Mischa, Kayden, Deshawn, Sophia, Oakleigh, Grayson, Knixyn, and Taisley.
She was predeceased by her husband John, many brothers and sisters, and her great-granddaughter Brook.
A Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 11:30-12:30pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Interment to follow at 1:00pm, at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. & 112th St.).
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5).
