Irene McKinnon (nee Peters), resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 89 years.

Irene McKinnon was born on April 9, 1930, in Saint Louis, PEI. She was one of more than 20 children. She married the love of her life, Murdock ''Bud”, on May 22, 1950, and had 8 beautiful children.

Irene enjoyed baking, cooking, picking berries, and making jam with the berries that she picked. At Christmas time, the family received care packages stuffed full of her one-of-a-kind homemade goodies. She also had a love for knitting/cross stitch and ensured that each family member was given one of these treasures. Irene also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Murdock “Bud” McKinnon; children: Grant (Angela), Danny (Sue), Lennaie (Rick), Jill (Randi), Randy (Sharon), Bradley, and Keith (Bev); daughter in-law Georgina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; and 5 sisters: Rosetta, Dolores, Esther, Helen, and Ada.

Irene was predeceased by her son Scot, daughter in-law Colleen, grandchildren Christopher and Erin, great-grandson Hunter, and her numerous siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
