Mary “Polly” Patterson, longtime resident of Bezanson, AB, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017, in Grande Prairie, AB, with her family by her side, at the age of 94 years.

Polly was born October 3, 1923, in Candomon Neath, Wales. James and Margaret Stark, along with their children: David, Donald and Mary, arrived in Quebec City, Quebec on April 26, 1926 aboard the Doric. They arrived in the Peace River District on May 5, 1926.

Polly rode her horse with her brothers to the old Bezanson school, Polly married the boy next door, Buster Patterson, on October 24, 1951. They settled on the Guy Patterson farmstead and raised three sons: Billy, Danny, and Leslie. They farmed for many years, and Polly worked at the Bezanson School as a janitor.

She enjoyed curling, golfing, dancing, playing cards, quilting, baking, and time with her grandchildren.

Polly will be sadly missed by her son Billy (Sheryll) Patterson and his family: Jason Patterson and children Jagger and Keaton, Dustin Patterson, Raina (Shaye) Draper and their children Austin, Jemma, and Sophia, Stacey (Jaime) Morris and their children Ryder, Corbyn, Xander, and Sterling; son Danny (Brenda) Patterson and his family: Tarah, Lannie (Sarah) Patterson and their children Charlotte and Logan, Jordan (Amanda) Patterson and their children Nolan and Clara; son Leslie (Cindy) Patterson and his family Amber (Rob) Sobool, Avery, and Deacon; sisters in-law Lorice and Erna Stark; as well as a large extended family.

Polly was predeceased by her husband Meryle “Buster” Patterson; parents James and Margaret Stark; mother and father in-law Adda and Guy Patterson; brothers: James Gold Stark, David Stark, Don Stark, and Desmond Stark; brothers and sisters in-law Laurence and Mildred Parrish, and Nemo and Minnie Sackett.

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 21 at 7:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.)

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery in Bezanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
