Obituary For Mary Steffa Banduryk Dibb

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Steffa Dibb, whose life touched so many. Mary, a resident of Grande Prairie AB, formerly of Grovedale AB, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 83 years.

Mary was born and raised near Nampa, AB to Peter and Parasceva Banduryk. She was married to Michael Zachar. They farmed in Nampa and had 4 children together. Michael died when the children were very young, so Mary moved her family to Peace River, where she worked as a drugstore clerk to support her children. Mary then moved to Grande Prairie to further her education and make a better life for her family. She then worked as a bookkeeper and florist.

Mary met and married Dave Dibb in 1974 and moved to Grovedale, where they built a beautiful home and enjoyed many great neighbours and community friends. In recent years, Mary and Dave resided in Grande Prairie, where they continued to enjoy retirement and the company of family and friends.

Throughout her life, Mary was very responsible, determined, and a hard worker. She was kind and considerate and would do anything for her friends and family. Mary loved her flower garden and had a real green thumb. She felt close to all animals and nature in general. She was also an amazing baker and her pies are legendary.

Mary will be sadly missed by her husband of 44 years David Dibb; children: Reg Zachar, Val (Dan) Beilman, Christine (Terry) Nelson, and Cynthia Zachar; grandchildren: Michael Zachar, David Houghton, Amanda Mann, Matthew (Jamie) Beilman, Sarah (Kevin) Student, Erik, Travis, and Tyler (Jessie) Nelson, and Emalee and Hunter Engler.

Mary was predeceased by her first husband Michael Zachar and sisters Rosie Javos and Jean Chymboryk.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

Special thanks to the doctors and staff on 3 North at the QEII Hospital for the great care and comfort they gave Mary and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite animal shelter or to Grande Prairie Voice for Life (11449 92 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8X 1P4).

My heart is hurting already at the loss of dear Mary. She was an amazing friend and we had many great lunches and shared our hearts with each other. I know you will all miss her very much, but she is in the arms of Jesus and free of all pain. Though we cannot make the service we will be remembering you all in our prayers. Love Pender and Donna

Our love, prayers, and sincere sympathy in the loss of your beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was a very special lady, with so much love to share. We were privileged to know her as a dear neighbour and friend, always hospitable, with the tea or coffee ready - along with some home-baked goodies... She always wanted to know how things were going with us, our family, and our community, because she cared. She will be deeply missed.
